Hell
Summary:
Hell is a place of literal fire
and literal pain. People who die without accepting
Christ as their savior will spend eternity in hell. God is a holy God,
and if you reject him by
not believing on and accepting Christ as the sacrifice for your sin, then
you are destined to
pay the price for your sins.
Christ gave us the free gift of salvation, but you have
to have
enough faith to accept it.

Luke 16:19-31 "There was a certain
rich man, which was clothed in purple and
fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
And there was a certain beggar named
Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of
sores, And desiring to be fed with the
crumbs which fell from the rich man's table:
moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
And it came to pass, that the beggar died,
and was carried by the angels into Abraham's
bosom: the rich man also died, and was
buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes,
being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar
off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried
and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me,
and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of
his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for
I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham
said, Son, remember that thou in thy
lifetime receivedst thy good things, and
likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is
comforted, and thou art tormented. And
beside all this, between us and you there is
a great gulf fixed: so that they which would
pass from hence to you cannot; neither can
they pass to us, that would come from
thence. Then he said, I pray thee therefore,
father, that thou wouldest send him to my
father's house: For I have five brethren;
that he may testify unto them, lest they
also come into this place of torment.
Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and
the prophets; let them hear them. And he
said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went
unto them from the dead, they will repent.
And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses
and the prophets, neither will they be
persuaded, though one rose from the dead."
Note: Luke 16 is not a parable because
parables do not use common nouns. Luke 16
references Abraham, Lazarus, and Moses.
Also, if Luke 16 is a parable then what is
the parable teaching?
Revelation 20:15 "And whosoever was not
found written in the book of life was cast
into the lake of fire."
Matthew 25:41 "Then shall he say also
unto them on the left hand, Depart from me,
ye cursed, into everlasting fire,
prepared for the devil and his angels"
Psalm 9:17 "The wicked shall be
turned into hell, and all the nations that
forget God."
Mark. 9:43 "And if thy hand offend
thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to
enter into life maimed, than having two
hands to go into hell, into the fire that
never shall be quenched:"
Also, to address the notion of total
annihilation (the idea that people who go to
hell simply burn up and out of existence)
please note the following:
The Beast was cast alive into the Lake of
Fire:
Revelation 19:20 "And the
beast was taken, and with him the false
prophet that wrought miracles before him,
with which he deceived them that had
received the mark of the beast, and them
that worshipped his image. These both were
cast alive into a lake of fire burning with
brimstone."
The Beast's body was destroyed in the flames:
Daniel 7:11 "I beheld then
because of the voice of the great words
which the horn spake: I beheld even till the
beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and
given to the burning flame."
Yet, the Beast is still alive in the Lake
of Fire:
Revelation 20:10 "And the devil
that deceived them was cast into the lake of
fire and brimstone, where the beast and the
false prophet are, and shall be
tormented day and night for ever and ever."
