Catholicism
Summary:
Catholicism is a cult that has been used to control the
masses and the freedom of religion for thousands of years. True Christianity has always
been, despite torture, outside the walls of the Catholic Church. Today, the Catholic Church does
not burn non-believers alive and chain the Bible to the pulpit, but its doctrines are just as
cultic and man-made as ever. Mainstream Catholic doctrines are simply at odds
with what the Bible actually says.

1) You can and should pray to Mary and other saints.
2) You can and should worship idols of saints and of Mary (who was
sinless).
3) Infant Baptism is scriptural.
4) Purgatory exists.
5) Nuns and priests should not get married.

|
1) Jesus Christ is the only one you can pray
to--not Mary. |
|
|
I Timothy 2:5 “For there is one God, and
one mediator between God and men, the man
Christ Jesus”
(Note: The Old Testament references pagan
civilizations praying to pagan gods, but
nowhere in the Bible is there an instance of
a Christian praying to anyone other than
God, nor is there a reference to a Christian
asking a deceased Christian to pray for
something.)
|
|
2) Mary was a sinner, and to worship, bow
down to, or pray to any kind of idol is
contrary to scripture. |

Luke 11:27-28 “And it came to pass,
as he [Jesus] spake these things, a certain
woman of the company lifted up her voice,
and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that
bare thee and the paps which thou hast
sucked. But he said, Yeah rather, blessed
are they that hear the word of God, and keep
it.”
Like the woman mentioned in the verse
above, Catholicism is religion that has lost
sight of what is truly important—the word of
God. Years ago it was the practice of
Catholic churches around the world to chain
the Bible to the pulpit. By doing this, a
Catholic church could prevent its followers
from reading the Bible and seeing the
inconsistencies the Bible has with some of
the central doctrines of Catholicism. Today
the answers are still found in the Bible—if
only people read it.
Luke 1:46-47 “And Mary said, my
soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit
hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.”
Deuteronomy 4:16 "Lest
ye corrupt yourselves, and make you a graven
image, the similitude of any figure, the
likeness of male or female,"
Leviticus 26:1 "Ye shall make you
no idols nor graven image, neither rear you
up a standing image, neither shall ye set up
any image of stone in your land, to bow down
unto it: for I am the LORD your God."
Deuteronomy 16:22
"Neither shalt thou
set thee up any image; which the LORD thy
God hateth."
The Catholic Church
even removes the following verse in Exodus
from the Ten Commandments.
Exodus 20:4 “Thou shalt not make unto
thee any graven image, or any likeness of
any thing that is in heaven above, or that
is in the earth beneath, or that is in the
water under the earth”
The Catholic Church through the ages and in
its practices today puts the virgin Mary on
such a pedestal of importance that Mary,
Jesus Christ, and God often appear to be
near equals. The Bible truth is that Mary
was simply a sinner who needed a savior like
you and I, and to make an idol of Mary, to
pray to Mary, and to hold Mary in such high
doctrinal esteem is blasphemous and
unscriptural.
I Thessalonians 1:9 "For
they themselves shew of us what manner of
entering in we had unto you, and how ye
turned to God from idols to serve the living
and true God;"
Mary had other children besides Jesus--she
was not a perpetual virgin.
Mark 6:3-4 "Is not this the
carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of
James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon?
and are not his sisters here with us? And
they were offended at him. But Jesus, said
unto them, A prophet is not without honour,
but in his own country, and among his own
kin, and in his own house."
The Bible in multiple passages states that
Jesus had brothers and sisters. Catholics
often state that the term "brother" when
related to Jesus simply means a brother in
the faith, however, the following passages
do a good job of showing that Jesus had
actual brothers. The verses below list
Jesus' brethren and his disciples as two
separate entities.
John 2:12
"After this he [Jesus] went down to
Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his
brethren, and his disciples: and they
continued there not many days."
Acts 1:13-14 "And when they were come
in, they went up into an upper room, where
abode both Peter, and James, and John, and
Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and
Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and
Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of
James. These all continued with one accord
in prayer and supplication, with the women,
and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his
brethren."
And, in the verse below Jesus gives us
another distinction between his actual
siblings and his fellow believers.
Matt. 12:46-50 "While he yet talked to
the people, behold, his mother and his
brethren stood without, desiring to speak
with him. Then one said unto him, Behold,
thy mother and thy brethren stand without,
desiring to speak with thee. But he answered
and said unto him that told him, Who is my
mother? and who are my brethren? And he
stretched forth his hand toward his
disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my
brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of
my Father which is in heaven, the same is my
brother, and sister, and mother."

3) Nowhere in the Bible are we commanded to
baptize infants, and nowhere in the Bible
does it say that water baptism does anything
to affect a person's eternal destination.
Baptism is simply an expression of what a
person believes. While baptism does not
save, it does create a false sense of
security. Salvation is by faith in Christ
and not by works or a baptismal pool. |

answer to what baptism is and who it is for)
Baptism is only for those who believe.
Acts 2:41 "Then
they that gladly received his word were
baptized"
Acts 8:36-37 "And as they went on
their way, they came unto a certain water:
and the eunuch said, See, here is water;
what doth hinder me to be baptized? And
Philip said, If thou believest with all
thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered
and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the
Son of God."
And the Bible teaches that Baptism is by
emersion--not sprinkling.
Acts 8:39 "And he commanded the
chariot to stand still: and they went down
both into the water, both Philip and the
eunuch; and he baptized him."
Mark 1:10 "And straightway coming up
out of the water, he saw the heavens opened,
and the Spirit like a dove descending upon
him:"
Just for clarification... By no means are
we suggesting that you dunk your newborn
instead of sprinkling him/her. In fact, we
are suggesting to forget baptizing your
infant altogether, and instead find a good
Bible-believing church and raise your child
to love the Lord and believe the Bible.
(Note: nowhere in the Bible were infants
baptized, or does it command or suggest that
infants be baptized)

|
4) Purgatory is a man-made belief that is
contrary to what the Bible teaches. |
|
|
The Bible teaches that as soon as a
person dies they immediately go to either
heaven or hell.
Hebrews 9:27 "And as it is appointed
unto men once to die, but after this the
judgment:"
Luke 16:22b-23 "...the rich man also
died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up
his eyes, being in torments..."
II Corinthians 5:8 "We are confident,
I say, and willing rather to be absent from
the body, and to be present with the Lord."
|
|
5) Forbidding to marry is a doctrine of the
devil--priests and nuns are altogether
unscriptural. |
|
|
I Timothy 4:1-3 "Now
the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the
latter times some shall depart from the
faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and
doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in
hypocrisy; having their conscience seared
with a hot iron; Forbidding to marry,
and commanding to abstain from meats, which
God hath created to be received with
thanksgiving of them which believe and know
the truth."
Matthew 23:9
"And call no man your father upon the earth:
for one is your Father, which is in heaven."
(Note: Forced celibacy often produces
immorality. This statement is evidenced by
the thousands of lawsuits brought against
Catholic churches for sexual charges, and by
the thousands of baby corpses that have been
discovered buried on monastery grounds.)
The Bible isn’t chained to a pulpit today,
so we urge Catholics everywhere, whether you
consider yourself a devout Catholic or you
are simply Catholic because your parents
were, pick up the Bible and read it. If you
are seeking the truth, and want to find
God’s will for your life, you will find that
God has always worked outside of the
Catholic Church—not in it. |
